The Swiss design studio reinterprets the codes of fine watchmaking by drawing inspiration from the legendary worlds of “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon”.

The design studio and watch manufacturer Kross Studio is once again pushing the boundaries by introducing a series of collectible sets inspired by the dragons of the Game of Thrones franchise. Each set is a unique piece, dedicated to a dragon from the fantasy epic “Game of Thrones” and its successor series, “House of the Dragon” . It is composed of a watch with a patented floating central tourbillon and a functional sculpture of a dragon’s egg. These masterfully crafted works of art seamlessly blend inspiration from the iconic world of Westeros with fine watchmaking.

The Ultimate Targaryen Inspired Watch

The central Tourbillon, designed by Kross Studio founder Marco Tedeschi , was crafted with all the precision and elegance a member of the Targaryen family would have demanded for a custom order. The watch embodies the distinct aesthetic codes found in a prominent Targaryen, from its opulent case to the intricate details of its movement. A masterful fusion of traditional watchmaking techniques and modern design results in a timepiece that truly captures the essence of the Targaryen lineage.

Floating in the skies

The hand-wound floating central tourbillon cage is a visual marvel, an innovation developed and patented by Kross Studio. Like a waving dragon in the heavens, the suspension of the central tourbillon floating just below the sapphire crystal dome offers an unobstructed view of the horological mechanism present at the heart of the watch. The tourbillon and its fixed seconds wheel, placed in levitation above the movement and the hands, offer an unprecedented perspective on the fascinating engineering of the central tourbillon. This innovative design feature offers the opportunity to fully admire this horological masterpiece from all angles.

Time display

The hours and minutes are displayed in a unique peripheral format made possible by a planetary gear system that orbits 360° around the tourbillon. A factor of 12 gear ratio allows the planetary system to propel the progression of hours. In addition to this innovation, the hour and minute display system is mounted on two large high-precision ball bearings designed to optimize the efficiency of the movement.

Made in the Kross Studio factory

The creation of this remarkable complication bears witness to a rare level of expertise and incomparable mastery on the part of the watchmaking artisans of the Manufacture Kross Studio. The collaboration between the technical office and the craftsmen of the newly integrated decoration and hand bevelling section has led to the creation of truly extraordinary movement decorations.

Valyrian Steel

The design of the watch incorporates key elements from the fantasy series and its famous dragons, such as its Damasteel ® dial. Fans will recognize the ridged look, made up of multiple dark, shimmering layers that evoke Valyrian steel. To be as close as possible to the imagination, Kross Studio turned to the same foundry that forged the metal used in the realization of the swords of the HBO series to produce the Damascus steel , used for the dial of the GOT Dragon Central Tourbillon.

The grade 5 titanium watch case has been hand sculpted to represent the scales of a dragon through intricate three-dimensional engraving. In addition, the emblem of House Targaryen, a flame-spitting three-headed dragon, also hand-engraved, is placed in the center of the caseback. Each watch is engraved with the name of the dragon that inspired the collectible set on the caseback.

The Dragons

The prestige of House Targaryen and its connection to dragons are inextricably linked through the ages, myth and memory. Dragons embody ultimate power and loyalty, forcing admiration and fascination. Kross Studio drew inspiration from the origins of dragons to create the functional sculpture of this collectible set: the dragon egg . Designed by Marco Tedeschi , it is produced in collaboration with the French workshop Leblon Delienne , recognized for its incomparable expertise in the manufacture of pop sculptures.

The exterior shape of the egg was created using a 3D scan of props from the TV series .

Each resin dragon egg was then meticulously airbrushed to create a unique finish, with each egg’s design inspired by a particular dragon. The egg opens to serve as a nest and accommodate the GOT floating central tourbillon or any watch of its choice. As with every piece of Kross Studio art, the design has been carefully crafted down to the smallest detail: the base of the sculpture features seven slots, one for each of the seven kingdoms of the saga. The two towers holding the watch cushion are inspired by the architecture of Dragonstone Castle , the ancestral seat of House Targaryen .

From the subtle details featured in the floating central tourbillon watch to the impressive elements of the functional sculpture, the collectible set represents the epitome of luxury and exclusivity, a must-have for any series fan, art collector and amateur of fine watchmaking.

The first five unique collectible sets have been revealed. They will be followed by others soon as the saga develops. Each of them is a unique piece dedicated to the dragons presented in “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon”, among which we find Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion as well as Syrax and Caraxes .
