The “Art Basel & UBS Art Market Report 2025” confirms a profound transformation of the global art market. While the total value of sales declined by 12% in 2024, transaction volume increased by 3%, reaching more than 40.5 million sales. This contrast illustrates a major shift: growth is now concentrated in the most accessible segments.

Key figures from the UBS / Art Basel 2025 report :

  • Major works (+10M $): -39% in volume, market share down from 23% to 18%.
  • Intermediate works (50K – 1M $): stable, but under buyer caution.
  • Affordable works (<$5K): +7% in value, +13% in volume.
  • New buyers: 44% of buyers were new in 2024, primarily young forty-somethings looking for small, accessible works, both in terms of price and comprehension. Pop art, which features icons, particularly appeals to this new generation of collectors.

Furthermore, 52% of acquisitions involved works by emerging or new artists, reinforcing the interest in accessibility and novelty (Artsy).

Main motivations:

  • 96.3% buy for personal pleasure.
  • 87% to support the talents they love.
  • Only 7% consider investment an important factor (MyArtBroker).

Closures of traditional art galleries mark the transition

The recent closure of iconic New York galleries, such as Kasmin Gallery (after 35 years of operation) and Blum Galleries, which closed in New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, as well as Clearing Gallery NY, shocked the art world. But these events, which also took place in major capitals across five continents, confirm that the traditional “old-fashioned” model must evolve to keep pace with the expectations of a new generation of collectors.

 » The Covid-19 crisis marked a decisive turning point in the art world. For more than 18 months, our galleries in Paris (Hôtel Royal Monceau) and London (Four Seasons Ten Trinity) remained closed. This ordeal highlighted a profound change among collectors. We then understood that a new generation of buyers was emerging: younger, more curious, in search of works that resembled them and reflected their times. This generation no longer recognized itself in the rigid and intimidating codes of traditional galleries. It was at this moment that we made a visionary decision: to reinvent the art gallery model.

The immediate success of this approach confirmed our intuition: art had to leave its elitist temples and enter the daily lives of all those who love creation. Today, with 7ART Concept Store, we embody this breakthrough: a new generation of galleries that makes art closer, more understandable, more affordable, while remaining demanding and signed by emerging or established artists. Arnold & Son welcomes two new dial variations to the Perpetual Moon 38 collection.  The Swiss watchmaker revealed the two new limited-edition moon phase timepiece models at Geneva Watch Days – including a limited edition of 88 pieces in blue aventurine glass and a 28-piece limited edition in sunray brushed grey. With these new designs, Arnold & Son exhibits its mastery of color, its sense of texture, and its taste for premium materials, telling a nocturnal narrative that brings together the grey of a cliff, the iridescent white of the moon, the inky black blue of a starry sky, and the precise astronomical moon phase of the A&S1612 caliber.

From the outset, Perpetual Moon 38 was destined to become a full-fledged collection. While distinct from its larger 41.5 mm diameter Perpetual Moon cousin, the 38 mm model shares the unwavering quality, precision, and high-level finish associated with the Arnold & Son name.

Measuring 38 mm in diameter and 10.44 mm thick, the Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold case is brought to life from a block of red gold (5N). Its bezel, four lugs, and crown are polished, shining under the cold light of the moon. The blue aventurine dial, constellated with metallic particles, blends into a celestial vault sculpted from the same glass. The “cliff grey” dial, in a warm, sunray-brushed grey, boasts an ever-shifting moiré effect under a grained matte midnight blue sky.  

These two limited editions of Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold are home to a huge moon phase: a luminescent disc of mother-of-pearl illuminates the sky, framed by the constellations of Cassiopeia and Ursa Major.  

A 38 MM PICTURE OF PRECISION

Perpetual Moon 38 Red Gold transposes stringent watchmaking requirements of Arnold & Son into a smaller, more slender case. The Arnold & Son Swiss manufacturer has designed an entirely new caliber, the smallest in its collection, and dedicated it to Perpetual Moon 38.

At 30 mm, the A&S1612 caliber has been sized to fit the diameter of the case. The hand-wound movement continues Arnold & Son’s tradition of calibers with long power reserves, reaching up to 90 hours.  

WAXING MOON, WANING MOON

The star complication of the A&S1612 caliber is its moon phase. Perpetual Moon 38 showcases a large moon disc. The different crescents occupy the large aperture between 10 and 2 o’clock, with the form of their cut-out faithfully recreating the appearance of the moon.  

True to its tradition of precision watchmaking, Arnold & Son has given this moon phase an accuracy of 122 years. Continuously rising, it will take more than a century for this moon to lag one day behind the real one in our skies.

Arnold & Son is named after John Arnold, a renowned English watchmaker of the 18th century. This independence and creativity demonstrate the House’s ability to perpetuate John Arnold’s exceptional inventions.

Arnold & Son’s collections are produced in limited series and distributed worldwide through carefully selected retail partners. 

HERITAGE

As a renowned watchmaker, John Arnold produced some of the most accurate marine chronometers of the 18th century. He won several awards from the Bureau des Longitudes, spurring him on in his research into timekeeping. He filed many patents as an inventor, including one for a compensation balance featuring a bimetallic balance spiral and another for a helical balance spring with terminal curves. Arnold also produced simplified chronometer design principles that permitted mass production of these timepieces, many of which were made available to His Majesty’s Royal Navy, making John Arnold one of its principal suppliers. One of his least known but most significant contributions was the modern definition of the term ‘chronometer’, which today refers to a high-precision timepiece driven by a movement that has passed an accuracy inspection carried out by an official neutral body.

AUTHENTICITY

A fine watchmaking House stands out for its mastery of the classics. Arnold & Son has based its identity on its ability to produce great watchmaking complications linked to John Arnold’s heritage and based on three principles: Astronomy, Chronometry and World Time. These complications include tourbillon, true seconds, dual time zones and moon phase. Lastly, the long-lasting power reserves pay homage to Arnold’s marine chronometers, which also benefit from impressive autonomy. Arnold & Son’s twenty or so calibres have been conceived, designed, developed, machined, decorated, assembled, and adjusted by its sister Manufacture, La Joux-Perret. This independence demonstrates the House’s ability to perpetuate John Arnold’s exceptional inventions.

Arnold & Son is known for its timepieces with a unique style that can be easily recognized. OMEGA’s partnership with the crew began 30 years ago, during the 1995 America’s Cup, when it collaborated with the legendary Sir Peter Blake, then captain of Team New Zealand.

For the brand with legendary precision, the timing was, once again, perfect: the New Zealanders won the trophy that year, and three times since, in 2000, 2017 and 2021.

2024 Marks the start of a new era for OZIAS. After establishing its distinctive universe with avant-garde designs, the brand returned to its first love: pop culture.

A true introspection, a source of boundless inspiration and a mirror of creativity and madness, it’s this pop culture that has nourished the designer’s imagination since he was very young.

A few days ago, just after the announcement of the imminent arrival of Beyoncé’s new album “Cowboy Carter”, the designer Marc Ozias came up with the idea of a custom bag in denim-style leather with “Jolene” embossed on it, a nod to Dolly Parton’s iconic song and part of Beyoncé’s new opus.

Once the bag had been created, the designer managed to send photos to one of the artist’s stylists. Seduced by the model, he confirmed to Marc Ozias that he thought Beyoncé would really like the bag. The “Jolene” custom bag was rushed to Los Angeles!

And on Tuesday night, Beyoncé posted a series of photos on her Instagram account and official website, in which she proudly wears the OZIAS bag.

A huge consecration for this young brand and for Marc Ozias, who has a quite unique particularity in the industry: to be a designer and a craftsman. As the only master on board, he is entirely free to let his imagination run wild.

He makes his creations himself, by hand, in limited editions, on his workbench set up in his Paris apartment.

“The Cowboy” is the second Ozias bag inspired by the artist Beyoncé. The inspiration this time comes from Act II, with a second opus entitled “Cowboy Carter”. With “The Cowboy”, Ozias immerses himself in the western and cowboy aesthetic that the artist highlights in his new era.

This handbag is inspired by one of the outfits that Beyoncé wore to promote the launch of this new album. This outfit with cowboy hat, white tank top and jeans that you could imagine straight out of the world of the western (glamorous and sexy too).

It is this piece that inspired Ozias for this new handbag, made entirely by hand. The designer therefore imagined a new bag made from denim-colored leather. The shapes take up a now iconic model of the Ozias brand, the wavy, here with a cowboy look that can enhance any type of look. Whether it’s a 100% western look, a more toned down version with slightly worn jeans, a tank top or a checked shirt or even a completely different type of style since the denim color has the advantage of going well with many things.

With Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé once again demonstrates her immense talent for music but also her enormous influence in the field of fashion. This cowboy trend has indeed spread more and more since the launch of the album and the Ozias “The Cowboy” bag will easily find its place in this wave of cowgirl silhouettes that we haven’t finished seeing this year.

For over two centuries, Bugatti has offered some of the finest roadsters ever created. Jean Bugatti was behind many of these models. Created between the mid-1920s and the late 1930s, Bugatti roadsters were produced in small numbers with an absolute quest for perfection. Among them: the Type 40 A, the Type 41 Roadster Esders, the Type 55 Roadster and the emblematic Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid Gangloff.

A true tour de force, the W16 Mistral1, is an evocative, powerful and memorable vehicle in many ways. It is, after all, the first Bugatti roadster since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, presented in 2012, and the last road appearance of the brand’s legendary W16 engine. It was therefore important that the development of the W16 Mistral should focus on absolute engineering excellence and embody more than just a reinterpretation of the Chiron2.

Built around the 1,600 PS W16 engine, the W16 Mistral offers craftsmanship and luxury that no other roadster can match. Its design and engineering have been completely rethought.

The monocoque has been redesigned and reconfigured to create a more rounded silhouette and meet strict safety regulations, including those for a roofless vehicle.

That’s why the Bugatti team had to work hard to design a dynamic vehicle with cutting-edge engineering combining performance, comfort, safety, handling and ease of driving.

Emilio Scervo: “One of the main challenges was to create a roadster capable of reaching speeds of up to 260.98 mph, and to combine this performance with a luxurious and refined experience offering great safety to the driver.”

To achieve this goal, it has never been more important to put into practice Bugatti’s philosophy that “form follows performance“. With this in mind, every component was designed both to push the limits in terms of aesthetics and to achieve totally new levels of performance. The challenge was to make the roadster’s structure as rigid and light as possible, so that the driving experience would be similar to that of a Chiron.

True to its Bugatti roadster roots, the W16 Mistral is a dynamic, agile and responsive hyper-sportive, which required the development team to use lightweight, ultra-high-performance composite materials and complex structures to reduce vehicle weight while increasing chassis rigidity. This same approach was adopted for the doors of the W16 Mistral, another key element in the development. They feature an innovative frame structure that enables them to absorb an exceptional amount of energy in the event of a side impact, ensuring the safety of driver and passenger.

A new, highly advanced air intake system has been specially created for the W16 Mistral to match its new exterior design. For example, innovative air intake vents located behind the headrests have been designed and developed with stringent – but essential – safety tests in mind. Each “mouth” is made from a bespoke carbon-fibre structure capable of supporting the full weight of the car in the event of a rollover. This new air intake configuration also enriches the W16 driver’s experience, enhancing the musicality of the legendary 8-liter engine. An auditory sensation unrivalled in the automotive world.

Nevertheless, the sound on board the W16 Mistral is not limited to the roar of the W16 engine, it is also accompanied by a top-of-the-range audio system developed specifically for the roadster. Listening to music on board the W16 Mistral becomes an incomparable pleasure, even when it’s hurtling along at high speed, playing with the powerful wind from which it takes its name.

Inside the W16 Mistral, woven leather covers the newly designed door panels, meticulously tested and produced to Bugatti quality standards. In a nod to the W16 Mistral’s illustrious predecessors, the gearshift – machined from a solid block of aluminum – pays homage to Rembrandt Bugatti’s famous “Dancing Elephant” sculpture. This sculpture already adorned the radiator of the emblematic Type 41 Royale in Ettore’s time, the most luxurious Bugatti ever created. A way of inscribing this modern masterpiece of the brand even further in the long line of Bugatti roadsters, recognized and admired for decades.
