The Most Accurate Predictions for the Investment Market in 2026

Qu Yan (Leo) recently wrote a detailed market outlook for 2026, focusing on trends across Canadian banking, U.S. equity valuations, MICs, crypto, and gold.

Given the current level of market uncertainty, many investors are reconsidering allocation strategies — this article breaks down key risks and opportunities in a clear, data-driven way.

As we look back at 2025, one thing is clear : Investors who placed their money in stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs generally enjoyed strong returns. Now that we’ve entered December, the full-year outlook still appears positive.

Meanwhile, recent earnings reports from Scotiabank and RBC reveal a significant boost driven by robust capital markets and wealth management activities. As Canada’s largest bank, RBC’s profit surged 29% to $5.4B CAD, while Scotiabank delivered $2.2B CAD in net profit.

These numbers highlight a key truth: Canada’s major banks—with their strong compliance frameworks and comprehensive wealth-management teams—continue to attract high-quality clients who need integrated financial services. For high-net-worth individuals in Canada, managing liquid assets through the banking system remains an excellent option, and current earnings reinforce this view.

Most retail wealth-management activities in Canada still take place within banks.

Why So Many Young Professionals Choose Banking ?

It’s no surprise that young people pursuing finance gravitate toward banks:

  • Clear career progression
  • Strong compliance and well-established platforms
  • Sticky, stable client relationships
  • Easier client acquisition
  • A broad environment to learn the fundamentals of the financial industry

Banks have the widest ecosystem among all financial institutions. That’s why I often encourage young professionals to grow their careers there. Working with diverse clients strengthens practical skills and deepens understanding of the core mechanics of Canadian finance.

Finance is an upstream industry—if you work within it, you gain wider access to information and resources. And as long as you stay committed, you can grow quickly. Banks also allow you to internalize Canada’s strict compliance standards, which is invaluable.

To be honest, I admire young people who have the chance to start in banks. For mid-career immigrants like me, however, entering a bank as a teller and restarting from the bottom isn’t an ideal fit. Bank roles also require several investment-related licenses in Canada, which can be a heavy burden at this stage of life.

Young people have time to study for exams like the CSC, CFP, CFA, FRM, accumulate experience, and rise over time. But by the time someone like me completes the same path, I’d likely be past 50. I want to achieve financial freedom earlier, not follow a long, linear career ramp again.

That’s why I didn’t pursue banking—not because I couldn’t, but because I couldn’t find a role that matched my experience. Banks often expect more from employees than corporate roles. In contrast, at my current lending institution, my skills and experience translate into value much faster, allowing me to contribute meaningfully and grow the company’s productivity.

For someone like me, leveraging accumulated expertise to create immediate value is the most efficient path.

Banking vs. Exempt Market Investing

Banks operate in the trillions-sized secondary market, offering a wide range of investment products. The exempt market, where I currently work, is different—its offerings are more niche, designed for high-net-worth investors to diversify risk.

But our products remain popular because they maintain low correlation with traditional bank wealth products. When massive market volatility or “Black Swan” events hit, MICs can help limit downside risk, making them a strong option for conservative investors.

My View on U.S. Equity Valuations

This week, I reviewed major U.S. companies’ valuations—PEG ratios, EV metrics, and more. Although giants like Apple, Nvidia, Google, and Meta are globally competitive, the valuations of the top three now show PEG ratios above 2, which generally suggests “overpriced.”

PEG compares valuation to earnings growth—the higher the PEG, the more expensive the stock.

Value investing requires buying strong, competitive companies at reasonable prices. Buying when valuations are high exposes investors to significant downside risks.

Morningstar’s data currently shows the overall U.S. market is highly valued.
This connects to several factors:

  • A strong USD
  • Positive U.S. macroeconomic data
  • Trump’s aggressive tariff policies
  • Global capital flowing toward U.S. high-yield assets

Hot money is pushing equity prices higher across liquid secondary markets.
Therefore, the risk level is elevated.

This is why I urge investors reading this to remain cautious with U.S. equities. Personally, U.S. stocks make up only 20% of my portfolio—I believe future volatility may be severe even if we can’t see it yet.

Many investors who have already made substantial gains are reallocating into undervalued, high-potential assets. They see the same thing: high U.S. valuations.

Lessons From Canada’s Housing Market

It’s similar to what happened in Canada’s residential real-estate market. When prices peaked in 2022, many agents encouraged buyers by saying, “Prices will keep rising!”

People unfamiliar with macroeconomics or the housing cycle rushed in… By 2025, their assets dropped more than 20% in value.

I’m one of the people who didn’t buy at the peak. I continued renting, and I still haven’t purchased a home today. I believe Canada’s housing market may continue to decline because of broader economic concerns.

For first-time buyers, this is painful—and even more so for property investors.
That’s why, I prefer loan-based fixed-income products:

  • They provide stable returns
  • They avoid asset-price depreciation risks

Crypto & Gold: My Short-Term Outlook

Crypto

After a sharp 30% correction, crypto is currently building a base. This sector remains a core part of future financial innovation, with strategic significance for many countries. With growing global participation and improved liquidity from exchanges like Binance, the long-term direction remains bullish.

Gold

Gold has inherent physical value and acts as a hard currency. Although it doesn’t generate recurring yield like an MIC does, its price is supported by global geopolitical instability and aggressive accumulation by nations—especially China, which is preparing for long-term strategic goals like resolving the Taiwan issue.

From late 2023 until now, gold has doubled, an unprecedented surge.
I suggest holding and observing.

Bitcoin? Buy dips and continue holding long-term.

MICs? I maintain my view: They remain a strong allocation choice for boosting overall return while diversifying risk.

Final Thoughts

2026 will be a year of both opportunity and uncertainty. Different asset classes will behave differently, and smart allocation—not speculation—will determine long-term success.

In 2004, in the midst of a renaissance, the Bugatti brand revolutionized the world of automotive performance and luxury with a hypersports car developing 1001 hp: the Veyron. The first 1000 hp-plus tourer was followed in 2016 by another engineering marvel, so ambitious that it challenged all performance expectations: the Chiron, the world’s first hypersports car to develop 1500 hp. What do they have in common? The most advanced automotive engine in existence: an 8.0-liter W16 with quadruple turbo. Now, 20 years after launching the hypersport segment, Bugatti is totally redefining the concept with a completely revamped engine and platform. Welcome to the Bugatti Tourbillon.

A NAME, A PHILOSOPHY

Mate Rimac, Bugatti CEO, said: “The development of the Bugatti Tourbillon has been guided at every stage by the 115-year history of Bugatti and by the words of Ettore Bugatti himself. The Tourbillon

For the first Bugatti in over 20 years not to be powered by the W16 engine, the brand has departed from the tradition of naming models after legendary Bugatti drivers. Thus, its name – the Tourbillon – was chosen to perfectly express its character. A French word and a subtle nod to Bugatti’s French heritage and its headquarters in Molsheim, the Tourbillon takes its name from the watchmaking invention of a Swiss genius who lived in France in 1801. Totally original, this unparalleled creation – both beautiful and complex – counteracted the effects of the earth’s gravity on the timepiece to ensure highly accurate timekeeping. And 200 years later, it’s still considered the pinnacle of watchmaking.

It’s this sense of mechanical timelessness that lies at the heart of the project that gave birth to the Bugatti Tourbillon. For a hypersports car destined to sit proudly on the lawns of the concours d’élégance of this century and the centuries to come, technology can easily fall into disuse – especially large digital displays – which is why for Bugatti it’s important to incorporate as many timeless components as possible. As a result, the Tourbillon uses timeless design and engineering techniques, including all-analog instruments made by Swiss watchmakers, and finished with the same care and attention as the world’s greatest timepieces. Just as these objects become family treasures handed down from generation to generation, the Tourbillon is a hypersport for eternity.

DESIGN AND AERODYNAMICS

Like all Bugatti models of the modern era, the Tourbillon is “shaped by speed”. To be able to travel at over 245 Mph, every surface, every air intake and every edge must be perfectly polished, to ensure that every detail is not only aerodynamic, but also beneficial to the vehicle’s thermodynamics. This is the guiding idea behind the Tourbillon, which then takes shape around four design elements inspired by the brand’s history: the horseshoe grille, the Bugatti line, the central ridge and the two-tone combination.

Frank Heyl, Bugatti Design Director, said : “The genius of Ettore and Jean Bugatti’s creations lies in their aerodynamics, innovation and unchanging beauty. We draw our inspiration from the Bugatti Type 35, whose silhouette was guided by the shape of the horseshoe grille, which tapered back into a streamlined fuselage. We also drew inspiration from the Type 57SC Atlantic – whose letter “S” stands for “Low” – by lowering the front end, the roofline and the driver’s position, creating that wonderful posture and dreamlike proportions. We felt it was essential to position the volumes in such a way that they were functional and supported the extreme proportions of the hypersport. Lowered, it appears wider, and the rims are highlighted. The result is an impression of muscular tension, of a posture ready to pounce. Every design decision has been aimed at creating a sensation of speed, even when the hypersportive is stationary.

While the aesthetics and proportions of this new Bugatti are strikingly beautiful, the fact remains that every surface and every airflow has been carefully studied, firstly to balance the colossal aerodynamic forces exerted on a vehicle travelling at over 245 Mph, and secondly to reconcile the thermodynamic requirements of a V16 engine, electric motors and an eminently powerful battery.

Drawing on more than 20 years of know-how from the Veyron and Chiron, the Tourbillon boasts a host of patented technologies. The perfect balance of forces generated by these innovations keeps the rear spoiler in the retracted position at peak speeds. Its function is to increase downforce at low speeds and act as an air brake to enhance stability during deceleration.

This aerodynamic balance is largely the result of the new diffuser concept, which begins its ascent just behind the passenger compartment, almost halfway up the vehicle, at an optimum angle, ensuring the Tourbillon’s perfect stability. The diffuser is built around an all-new anti-collision concept that is fully integrated into the structure of the diffuser itself. This makes it both highly effective and virtually invisible, enabling the open design of the rear end.

At the heart of the Tourbillon’s design philosophy lies the emblematic horseshoe, the starting point of all the hypersport’s lines, where the volume of the central fuselage takes shape. On either side of the hypersportive, air flows under the headlights to increase the flow into the side air intakes. This complex interplay of air flows is also evident in the front-end design. While retaining the dimensions of a sculpted front end, it ingeniously houses a highly efficient cooling system that guides air through and then out of the front hood, increasing downforce while ingeniously integrating a spacious trunk between the two radiators.

Two sophisticated, power-operated dihedral doors not only allow easy entry into the vehicle, but also mark the opening in spectacular fashion. They can be opened and closed in three different ways: from the key, via the opening button just below the Bugatti line, or the one on the center console.

INTERIOR 

Since carmakers began integrating digital and touch screens into their models, the innovations have been such that in just ten years, these technologies already seem obsolete. The design of the interior was guided by a philosophy of timelessness, imagining the Tourbillon on the lawns of concours d’élégance not only in ten years’ time, but more importantly in 100 years’ time. Inspired by the world of watchmaking, in which wristwatches more than a century old can still be worn and used today, while integrating perfectly with modern fashion and lifestyle, the engineers and designers created an authentic analog experience in the cabin.

The centerpiece – the dashboard instruments designed and crafted with the expertise of Swiss watchmakers – takes horological inspiration to the extreme. Comprising more than 600 parts, crafted in titanium and incorporating precious stones such as sapphire and ruby, the instrument panel is designed to a maximum tolerance of 50 microns – the smallest being 5 microns – and weighs just 700 grams.

This complex engineering masterpiece remains the focal point of the driving experience, around which the steering wheel rotates – a configuration known as the “fixed hub steering wheel”. Thanks to this ingenious concept, the Tourbillon driver enjoys an unobstructed view of his or her instruments, whatever the steering angle.

The center console combines crystal glass and aluminum, revealing the intricate workings of all the buttons and the engine start lever. The development of this glass required 13 separate stages, to ensure perfect transparency, extreme resistance and optimum safety in the event of an accident. The aluminum parts are anodized and milled from a single block of metal, while the knurled aluminum buttons sit at the heart of a complex mechanism fully visible beneath the crystal glass – developed entirely in-house. Igniting the all-new naturally-aspirated V16 engine and electric motor is a physical experience, a nod to the rituals of historic automobiles that required pulling to start and pushing to stop the engine.

However, a high-definition digital screen – which the driver can make appear at will – displays vehicle data and offers several connectivity options. The vehicle’s only screen – which displays vehicle data and offers several connectivity options – remains completely hidden, unless the driver wishes it to appear. A highly refined mechanism allows the touchscreen to be deployed from the top of the center console – in portrait mode for the rearview camera in just two seconds, and in landscape mode in five seconds.

As with the exterior, every decision concerning the interior has been made with ultimate performance in mind, without compromising on practicality or comfort. The seats, for example, are attached to the monocoque to be as light and low as possible. And to ensure a comfortable riding position whatever the rider’s size, the pedals can be moved forward and back by means of an electric control.

The result is a spacious interior ideal for long journeys and daily commutes. As for the audio system, it dispenses with traditional speakers and woofers, opting instead for an advanced system that uses exciters placed on the door panels and throughout the vehicle, where the interior panels act as speakers. This system is lighter and more powerful than traditional audio systems.

ENGINES AND PERFORMANCE

When it came out, Bugatti’s W16 engine was unlike any other automotive engine in the world. With its four turbos and prodigious power, it set a new benchmark and pushed back the boundaries of combustion engine technology. Two decades after its launch, it has yet to be equalled, or even imitated. Following in its footsteps, here’s another incomparable masterpiece of internal combustion engineering, combined with the instant torque and flexibility of electric motors.

This new-generation Bugatti hypersport is powered by an all-new 8.3-liter naturally-aspirated V16 engine – designed in collaboration with Cosworth – combined with two electric motors on the front axle and one electric motor on the rear axle. In all, the Tourbillon develops 1,800 hp, of which 1,000 hp is generated by the combustion engine and 800 hp by the electric motors. This is an extraordinary performance – made possible by a whole range of advanced materials and technologies – given that the Veyron achieved 1001 hp with its 8.0-liter engine featuring four turbochargers, and the new V16 is fully naturally aspirated. Made from lightweight materials, the engine weighs just 555,5 Lbs.

The electric motors are powered by a 25 kWh oil-cooled 800V battery housed in the central tunnel and behind the passengers. With four-wheel drive and all-wheel torque vectoring, the hypersport benefits from optimum traction and agility. The three electric motors deliver a total of 800 hp. The electric motor, with its speed of up to 24,000 rpm and fully integrated dual silicon carbide inverter, offers one of the highest power densities in the world. Electric axles deliver over 6 kW per kg of electric axle mass, including inverters, electric motors and gearboxes. While the power, throttle response and additional torque offered by the “Torque-Fill” function are priorities for the electric powertrain, the relatively high energy content of 25 kWh enables an all-electric range of over 37 miles.

The Tourbillon boasts significantly improved performance, a powerful electric drive system and a large battery. Yet it’s lighter than the Chiron, a testament to the incredible engineering behind this achievement. Thanks to its light weight and the instant torque provided by the electric motors, the Bugatti Tourbillon delivers breathtaking performance.

Quite literally, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis is an athlete at the top of his sport. Not only is the Swedish pole vaulter the current World and Olympic champion, but on April 20th, he broke the World Record for an 8th time in his career – setting a new height of 6.24m.

For OMEGA, this extraordinary leap is the perfect moment to introduce a new Seamaster Aqua Terra inspired by the brand ambassador. Crafted in the blue and yellow colours of the Swedish flag, it features a number of exclusive details in celebration of Mondo’s achievements in athletics.

The 41 mm timepiece is presented in stainless steel and is worn on an integrated strap made from blue rubber with neat stitching in yellow, an OMEGA logo, and polished central links that beautifully complement the polished and brushed surfaces of the case.

On the dial, OMEGA has delivered a subtle twist to the signature Aqua Terra style. While the blue surface is given a traditional opaline finish with horizontal stripes, the unique tributes to Mondo include a Seamaster name and quarter hour numbers in yellow. Most notably, the varnished central seconds hand is also in yellow and is crafted with a pole vault inspired shape, featuring Super-LumiNova on top to represent the grip of the pole.

As precision has been critical throughout Mondo’s sporting journey, the watch is further equipped with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre, assuring the very height of accuracy, performance, and magnetic-resistance.

Armand Duplantis has been an OMEGA ambassador since 2020. Kross Studio Unveils Six New Timepiece Collector Sets Inspired by the Dragons of “House of the Dragon” HBO series.

Kross Studio, renowned for its innovative fusion of fantasy and haute horlogerie, proudly unveils new Collector Sets inspired by the awe-inspiring dragons of the acclaimed HBO series “House of the Dragon.” As the second season of the series premieres on June 16, these exquisite timepieces and dragon egg sculptures offer discerning collectors an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the mythical realm of Westeros. 

The six latest collector sets pay homage to Arrax, Silverwing, Moondancer, Seasmoke, Vermithor and Sunfyre, complementing and completing the dragon inspired series. Previous unique collector set editions from the Kross Studio x House of the Dragon collaboration were dedicated to Balerion (sold out), Viserion, Viserion Ice Dragon (sold out), Drogon (sold out), Rhaegal, Syrax, Caraxès (sold out), Meleys (sold out), Vaghar (sold out), and Vermax (sold out).

Each of the Collector Sets pays homage to a specific dragon from the “Game of Thrones” saga, capturing their unique essence and formidable presence. The main feature of each set is a mesmerizing central floating tourbillon watch, a masterpiece of horological engineering designed by Kross Studio’s founder Marco Tedeschi. The watch and its tourbillon, suspended beneath a sapphire crystal dome, reflects the distinct aesthetic codes of House Targaryen, from its 45mm grade 5 titanium case to its intricate movement.

Complementing the watch is a meticulously crafted dragon egg sculpture in resin and hand-painted by the renowned French workshop Leblon Delienne. Each egg, inspired by the appearance of its corresponding dragon, serves as a nest for the watch and adds an element of fantasy and intrigue to the collection.

The ultimate Targaryen-inspired timepiece

At the heart of the Game of Thrones Central Floating Tourbillon lies the innovative KS 7’005 movement, a testament to Kross Studio’s dedication to horological advancements. This movement features a world-first, manually wound floating central tourbillon, a mesmerizing complication that seems to defy gravity as it rotates within the watch. The peripheral hour display mechanism adds a touch of futuristic elegance, with hour markers positioned around the edge of the dial instead of the center. This innovative design, combined with the floating tourbillon, provides a captivating view of the intricate mechanics at play within the watch, blurring the lines between technical prowess and artistic expression.

KS 7’005 Caliber

The manual-winding patented floating central tourbillon is designed, crafted, and assembled in Kross Studio’s workshops. As a fundamental characteristic, the main functions of the movement, such as Its energy accumulation, regulation, display, and winding, are concentric and coaxial at the center of the watch. Therefore, the barrel and the regulator provide a power reserve of 120 hours with chronometric performance. This remarkable complication is a testament to the pinnacle of horological expertise, brought to life by the master artisans at Kross Studio Manufacture.

Floating in the skies

The cage of the central floating tourbillon is a visual marvel, marking a patented, world-first achievement. Like a dragon gliding across the heavens looking down from above, the floating central tourbillon’s suspension just below the sapphire crystal dome offers a breathtaking view of the inner workings of the watch beneath it. With the tourbillon and its fixed second wheel levitating above the movement and hands, the construction provides a never-before-seen perspective into the mesmerizing mechanics of the tourbillon. This innovative design feature provides the opportunity to fully admire this horological masterpiece from every angle.

Reading the time

The innovation of the KS 7’005 movement also lies in the peripheral hour display mechanism, achieved by a planetary gear system mounted on two ball bearings, freeing the tourbillon from any obstruction.

Valyrian steel

The watch’s design synthesizes key elements of the fantasy series and its renowned dragons, such as its dial, made of Damasteel®. Reminiscent of Valyrian steel, fans will recognize its striated appearance made up of multiple dark and shimmering layers. The Damascus steel used in the Dragon Central Tourbillon dial is crafted by Damasteel, the same foundry that forged the metal used in the HBO series’ swords.

The ergonomic, grade 5 titanium or 18-carat pink gold watch case imitates the scales of a dragon through intricate three-dimensional engraving. Furthermore, the Targaryen House sigil, depicting a three-headed dragon breathing flames, is also hand-engraved in the center of the titanium watch case back. Each case back is uniquely identified by the name of the singular dragon that inspired the collector’s set, with only one set dedicated to a single dragon.

An inextricable, transcendent bond links the Targaryen house’s prestige and its dragons across ages, myth, and memory. As a symbol, for the Targaryens and the people of Westeros, dragons embody the ultimate power and loyalty and inspire awe and fascination. Kross Studio looked to these fearsome creatures’ origins, their eggs, to inspire the collector sets’ unique functional sculptures.

The Dragon Egg Functional Sculpture, designed by Marco Tedeschi, is produced in collaboration with the French workshop Leblon Delienne, long renowned for its incomparable expertise in crafting pop sculptures.

The design was carefully planned down to the smallest detail, inside and out. The outer shape of the eggs was created using a 3D scan of the TV show props. Each resin Dragon Egg has been painstakingly airbrushed and hand-painted to create a unique finish that is wholly individual, inspired by a single dragon.

The egg opens to serve as a nest for the Game of Thrones Central Floating Tourbillon or any timepiece of choice, which can be placed on a cushion supported by two towers inspired by the design of Dragonstone Castle, the ancestral seat of House Targaryen. The base of the stand features seven slots, one for each of the saga’s seven kingdoms.
